Review of Metropolitan Bilbao’s Partial Territorial Plan

Bilbao Metropoli-30 is taking part in a consultation process organised by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia’s Department of Transport, Mobility and Territorial Cohesion for the review of Metropolitan Bilbao’s Partial Territorial Plan (PTPBM in its Spanish initialism). Bilbao Metropoli-30 held the position of Technical Secretariat for the drafting of the PTPBM in 2006.

Today, 10 years after its approval, the PTPBM needs to be overhauled in order to respond both to the changes that have occurred over the past decade and to the current scenario informed by the new socioeconomic circumstances and the implementation of sundry schemes and projects. The Provincial Council of Bizkaia is therefore furthering a review of the PTPBM, which will include a public participation process.

The PTPBM is the legal document designed to inform the metropolitan area’s territorial strategy. It covers major projects in residential and industrial areas, the location and suitability of the main infrastructures, land for potential use in the future, the protection of nature, mobility strategies, and the regeneration of decaying areas, among many other matters.
