Gyeongnam Center for Social Economy and Entrepreneurs (South Korea)

Under the umbrella of the GSEF 2018  Conference, a group from the GNCSEE (Gyeongnam Center for Social Economy and Entrepreneurs) organisation from South Korea, which is attending and taking part in the event, has asked the Association to give a talk about the process of revamping metropolitan Bilbao together with other local speakers as part of a seminar to be held on 2 October from 16.45 to 19.50 on the topic of “Sustainable urban development and social innovation”. The talk by the Bilbao Metropoli-30 Director General is entitled “Regional Development and Social Economy in Bilbao”.

GNCSEE is an independent, non-profit organisation founded in 2011, the primordial purpose of which is to promote social and economic organisation, foster social innovation, build social and economic networks and governance in Korea.

The city of Tong-young in Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea, is very similar to Bilbao in terms of its ship-building past and industrial decline. Therefore the Korean government is driving a large-scale urban regeneration project at the site of the shipyard that closed in Tong-young based on local culture.

The GNCSEE group includes Social Economy professors, the Director General of LH (Korea Land and Housing Corporation) and other representatives from social economy centres and enterprises.
